____________________________________________________________________
I’ll start at the beginning.
From the age of five until the age of twenty-three, I had cosmic experiences, at will, just by nodding my head while blinking my eyes.
The experience was instantaneous and it was always exactly the same. It was about everything. Over the years, I’ve come to think of this experience as being the universe intersecting with my life. There were two major results:
The first was that I more-or-less became that experience, and am seemingly forever on auto-pilot trying to recreate that vibration, that experience (which I know to be our common future) in the here and now.
If you are interested in this aspect of my life, you really can’t do better than to read my Conversation With Tim Folzenlogen on my website. I believe it to be the most concise, as well as most creative expression of the content to date.
The second result was that I was born with a tremendous artistic gift.
What’s more, the power of this artistic side of me has always been recognized (though not always embraced) everywhere I go. I’ve walked something of a Lord of the Ring of Art course, in that there have been many screamingly highs and lows.
The story is the thing. That’s what will endure.
But as this is an art show, I’d like to address that specifically, and how it relates to this larger context.
All expression is self-portraiture. The way we walk, the way we talk; it’s all an expression of who we exactly are. It simply can’t not be. Don’t you think so?
I have grown up with both feet firmly planted in two very different realities, and everything about my life is an expression of that: most certainly my art.
It’s what makes it great art.
My expression has never stopped evolving, as neither have I. Every single piece of art that I have created is an absolutely sincere expression of who I was at that moment in time.
There is a lot of magic to be experienced in all of it.
