Day 1: Chelsea
I had to start in Chelsea - the belly of the beast.
Gave away the first card after ten minutes or so.
Jim said “You’re Tim Folzenlogen?” He said he knew my work from my shows at Monkey Room. He lives a few blocks away from me.
I think it was the universe’s way of making me feel at home.
About a half hour later I had a nice long talk with Brian. He was the nicest, most sincere man. He made my day.
I stayed for three hours, as was my plan.
I only gave out a small handful of cards – as it is also my plan to not give them to anyone unless they express interest.
Most people just walked by. Maybe half of them looked at the painting and read the card in passing.
I enjoyed the experience very much.
I’m very excited about this project.
