Allan Stone

Wayne Thiebaud came to one of my shows at Helio and said some kind things about my work.

Like most of the East Village galleries, Helio moved to Soho, and then went bust when the stock market took a dive in the late eighties.

Since Stone represents Thiebaud, I approached his gallery next.

Allan's was one of the few galleries that openly solicited artists to bring in work for review (no slides please). I brought him a series of thirty small paintings. Allan purchased fourteen of them.

A year or so later the market got really bad; and then he closed in order to relocate.

Still, I had a good run with Allan.

He sold a lot of my work.

I'm proud to list him on my resume.
