Day Four
When I first decided to do RESIST! as a reoccurring project, I chose two intersections on Bloomfield Ave:
Church Street and Park Street.
I have history with both locations. If you go to my Montclair on Paper project you can see the paintings. I spent four photoshoots last Spring / Summer sitting on the curb or sidewalk there taking pictures for that series. I plan on returning and doing the same again this year.
I advertise my website on my sign, as well as pass out postcards to anyone expressing interest.
Renee, my wife, said that she wasn’t sure that she agreed with my doing that. She said it might look like I was commercializing my protest, trying to make money off of it.
I strongly disagreed.
First off, my website is not a commercial site. There are no prices listed, and one needs to go there to view my RESIST! project. While there (here) one can also view my this just in project, which I consider to be the vaccine for all things Trump.
But I think what is equally important is the idea of the local protester representing some aspect of the community.
Being someone who considers himself as being one of the artist in the Montclair Family, I thought it only responsible to identify myself as being such to the public.
Far from advertising product, I see it as adding weight to the message.
