The figures project
With the Jessica G portrait, I prepared all the cut pieces (mostly tiny squares – thousands of them) in advance. At least ten people worked on this one. We started with a life-size color photo of Jessica’s face. My intention was to match the small squares of color to the colors in the photo and “recreate” it. The rest of the figure became anything and everything, which is how I interpret the piece. Jessica walks through life experiencing anything and everything through a lens of kindness, and it all comes together and makes Jessica who she is.
